Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, the University launched the activities of “Innovation Day” in conjunction with World Creativity and Innovation Day, as part of its strategic commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. This initiative aims to align educational outcomes with labor market demands and to support a knowledge-based national economy.
Prof. Tamer Samir emphasized that the organization of this event reflects the University’s orientation toward building a modern educational system grounded in innovation and continuous development, with a focus on transforming knowledge into practical applications. He noted that innovation is no longer optional but has become an essential requirement for keeping pace with global developments and achieving institutional excellence.
He further explained that the University adopts the concept of “productive innovation,” which focuses on translating ideas into marketable products and services through the promotion of an enabling entrepreneurial environment and the strengthening of partnerships with the industrial sector. This approach contributes to directing scientific research toward serving society and meeting evolving labor market needs.
Prof. Tamer Samir added that the University is committed to preparing a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of creating employment opportunities, underscoring that investment in human capital remains a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and building a knowledge-based economy, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030. He also encouraged students to pursue innovation and to view failure as a constructive step toward success.
F Prof. Mahmoud Shakal, Vice President for Employment, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, affirmed the University’s commitment to developing an integrated system that supports innovation by enhancing students’ entrepreneurial skills and strengthening collaboration with various productive sectors, thereby preparing graduates capable of competing in both local and international labor markets.
The event also featured a panel discussion chaired by Prof. Tamer Samir, focusing on advancing academic programs in line with the requirements of an integrated system that connects education, industry, scientific research, and innovation.
The program included a series of specialized scientific lectures. Prof. Osama Hamdy, Professor of Medicine and Diabetes at Harvard Medical School, presented the latest trends in medical innovation and healthcare technology. Prof. Gamal Youssef, expert at the Arab Organization for Development under the League of Arab States and member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, addressed the role of innovation in achieving sustainable development. Prof. Mohamed Ali Diab, Director of Industrial Development at El Araby United Company, highlighted the role of the industrial sector in supporting innovation and translating it into practical applications, while Eng. Kamal Abdelmalek, Chairman of EAST Company, emphasized the importance of innovative marketing in supporting startups and enhancing their competitiveness.
At the conclusion of the event, the University President toured the student innovation exhibition, where he received detailed presentations of the showcased projects and ideas. He commended the high caliber of student work and reaffirmed the University’s continued commitment to supporting young talent and fostering innovation and creativity, thereby strengthening its role in advancing a knowledge-based economy and achieving sustainable development.
